EXCLUSIVE : Kidnappers Of 5 Post UTME Students Demand N5m Ransom

Suspected gunmen have kidnapped five students on Birnin Gwari – Funtua road in Kaduna state, Solacebase have learnt.

According to one of the victims that escaped the abduction the incident occurred on Monday evening when the commercial bus they boarded from Ilorin , the  Kwara state capital  was attacked in the evening around 5.00pm by three gunmen who were masked.

The victim, Ibrahim Muhammad said seventeen of them were in the bus heading to Federal University Gusau in Zamfara state to write the post UTME when they ran into the kidnappers that ambushed their bus.

“ When two of the abductors stopped our bus and the driver realized that they were not law enforcement agents , he tried to maneuvered to another side to escape the attack only for another  masked man with gun forcing us to stop,” said Ibrahim Muhammad.

“The driver abandoned the bus and we ran into the bus. It was in the cause of running that they abducted five of us, four female and a male”.

Speaking to Solacebase in a telephone interview  from Ilorin , the mother of one of the abducted student, Hajia Khadija Muhammad who was practically crying said the kidnappers have contacted them demanding for N5million for the release of the five students.

“ They called me with my daughter’s phone urging us to pay the N5m if we need them alive without informing the police,” Hajia Khadija said.

Efforts to speak with Kaduna Police Spokesman Muktar Aliyu was not successful as he did not pick his calls.
