The Chairman cautioned members to be wary of some politicians or detractors who’s sole aim this year will be to discredit governments for electoral and political gains, or to cause ill feelings against certain individuals or stakeholders in Hajj affairs.
He called on the team to know the classification of the various categories of Nigerian Pilgrims, to be able to appreciate the responsibilities of NAHCON, State Pilgrim Boards and Agencies and the private tour operators, to each of the categories.
Barrister Abdullah Mukhtar, also advised the media team against delving into Saudi internal affairs.
Responding the chairman of this year’s media team, Alhaji Bayo Atoyibi who commended the NAHCON Management for its foresight in assembling select media practitioners to report Hajj activities, called on members not only to be good ambassadors of their profession, but above all propagators of Islam.
He decried the recent trend in media practice where lazy reporters rely on social media or third party for their news, and therefore advised members to ensure veracity of any report they sent to their media organisations.
Alhaji Atoyibi admonished his colleagues to ensure reportage of only materials that strengthen unity and brotherhood of the Ummah.
