Emir of Kano Muhammad Sanusi II on Sunday appealed to the state governor Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje to convened a security meeting with political leaders in the state with security agents to develop a strategy to forestall violence ahead of the 2019 general elections.
Muhammad Sanusi II emphasized the need for political leaders to address thuggery that breed political violence .
The Emir made the call today at Kano government house during the traditional Hawan Nasarawa where the Emir paid homage to the governor as part of activities making the Eid el fitr celebration.
He advised the governor to accord priority attention to the Education sector as no society can develop than the level of education of its people.
“The issue of access to healthcare services should be of much concern to the government and how to sustain the fight against drug abuse,”said Muhammad Sanusi.
Responding the state governor Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje said the major success recorded by his administration in the agriculture sector is the resuscitation of the Kano Agricultural Supply Company LTD (KASCO) that presently produce fertilizer in commercial quantities, as recently Jigawa state government was supplied N500m fertilizer while Kebbi was supplied N300m worth.
Ganduje said security situation has improved with the state as the issue of cattle rustling has drastically reduce with the establishment of a committee that preferred offering amnesty to cattle rustlers that voluntarily surrendered.
“ We also created a committee that interface between farmers and herdsmen so as to mediate in their relationship to reduce conflict between them”
He added that “the dreaded Falgore forest that was a hideout criminal has been converted to training ground for the military for their various exercises”.
