The bridge after Mowo Junction, 18km from Mokwa and about one kilometer from Tatabu bridge on Mokwa- Jebba road has collapsed due to heavy rainfall on Saturday night.
The bridge which was rehabilitated by the Federal Government in 2017 after it collapsed, has left motorists and commuters stranded.
The Federal Road Safety Corps Public Education Officer, Bisi Kazeem, disclosed in Abuja on Sunday that the incident has paralyzed vehicular movement on both sides of the road “as there is no thoroughfare at the moment.”
Kazeem said the Corps Marshal, Boboye Oyeyemi has ordered immediate deployment of more personnel and logistics in the proposed alternative route to cater for the anticipated upsurge in vehicular traffic.
He added that Oyeyemi called for caution by the motoring public while the bridge is being fixed by the government.
“The Corps Marshal has also ordered strict traffic surveillance by operatives of the Corps at the bridgehead to avert any mishap,” Kazeem stated
