Eight persons were reportedly killed while four others were wounded by suspected cattle rustlers at Kurega village in Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
The incident happened on Tuesday afternoon when the rustlers attacked the village at about 2pm.
Kurega shares boundary with Birnin Gwari Local Government.
Those injured, sources in the village say, have been taken to an hospital at the nearby community.
A member of a vigilante group in the area said eight people were killed by the rustlers.
”The people of Kurega village lost eight of their strong hunters. We have brought out eight bodies to the town, from the bush,” he said.
Police Public Relations Officer in Kaduna state, Aliyu Mukhtar Hussaini Aliyu, confirmed the incident saying three persons were killed while four others were injured.
“They also made away with some numbers of cattle. We have launched an investigation into the matter,” he said.
