After social media criticism over President Muhammadu Buhari’s visit to Kano for a wedding ceremony against visits to states plagued by crisis, the president has decided to visit Taraba, Yobe, Benue and Zamfara States.
More than 100 schoolgirls were abducted in Dapchi, Yobe State last month, just as communal clashes, herdmen/farmers clash and armed banditry affect Taraba, Benue and Zamfara States.
A statement by the president’s spokesman, Femi Adesina, on Monday said Buhari decided to visit the states after studying a “comprehensive report on the various incidents”.
“In view of recent terrorist attacks, criminal activities and communal clashes in some States leading to tragic loss of lives and kidnapping of 110 schoolgirls, President Muhammadu Buhari immediately tasked the Armed Forces and other Security agencies to compile comprehensive reports on the various incidents.
“Having received and studied the Reports, the President has decided to undertake an on the spot assessment of the various occurrences and to meet and console the communities affected.
